Let’s be real. We’ve all struggled with motivation at one time or another. Take for example the classic New Years Resolution. Many wonderful people with good intentions make a New Years Resolution, while less than 2 weeks in fall off the “band wagon”.

Sometimes it can be difficult maintaining enthusiasm when our goals always seem just out of reach. This doesn’t mean that we should give up. We can achieve all of our goals if we commit to them and implement ways to stay motivated.

The following 6 tips can help you stay motivated so that you can achieve everything you desire.

1. Set goals

The first point is an obvious one, but important nonetheless. If you want to make a change in your life, set goals. You are likely to have your end goal, but this needs to be broken down into achievable, realistic short-term goals. That way, you will know exactly what you need to be working on in order to achieve the big picture result. It also makes it easier to check your progress as you can tick off things as you go.

2. Surround yourself with like-minded people

If you want to stay motivated, it’s time to remove the toxic people from your life. Remaining driven and on-task can be difficult enough as it is without other people’s negativity. Instead, choose to surround yourself with like-minded people. These people who will pick you up, instead of tear you down.

3. Establish healthy habits

It’s much easier to stay motivated if we feel good. Make your health a priority so that you can stay focused on your goals. Eat a healthy diet consisting mostly of fresh fruit and vegetables, and make sure you exercise regularly. It’s also important that you get enough sleep each night and establish healthy sleep patterns.

4. Reward yourself

Make sure you take the time to reward yourself when you do make progress. If you achieve a short-term goal, celebrate! It doesn’t have to be anything big or official, maybe a catch up with a friend or dinner with your partner. It should be something that makes you feel good.

5. Use your support networks

Sometimes we need a little help in staying motivated. If you find you are going through a time where you lack in the area, turn to a friend or family member who can pump you back up. Somebody you trust will be able to remind you why you are doing something in the first place.

6. Practice mindfulness

Mindfulness is a practice that brings our attention to the present. This can help direct our attention where we need it, acknowledging the things that need to be done and helping us to stay motivated.6 Ways to Stay Motivated
